The pyramid is the long-lasting symbol of human ‘immortality’, fatuously resisting the irresistible as the sun’s rays beat down on its desert environment – there is no life there. Only the sun itself is circular, while its rays paradoxically follow parabolic paths – otherwise the whole is constructed entirely from straight lines.
